1975 tire pressure sticker in driver door

OK , you guys that stuck away 1975 Convertibles brand new because it was the last convertible Chevrolet was ever going to build-
sorry about that. What is the correct tire pressure sticker in the drivers door jam from the factory ?
I have seen the current reproduction front 20 psi rear 26 and I have seen old supposedly NOS 20 front/20 rear

I think the current repro number printing uses a incorrect style of number both 2 and 6 are wrong style I think
Anybody have a photo of a original 75 door jam with factory correct tire pressure sticker ?

    Thanks
    Bob

      Bob,

Confirming Eric's post. This sticker (p/n 334428) is also the same sticker that is on my '73.

The sticker on the left is from my '75 convertible. The sticker on the right is from my '73 coupe.

      Thank you,

That's a ridiculously low cold tire pressure. What were those guys thinking?

Those early US made radials were pretty bad... a lot of tread separations. Check the max cold pressure placarded on the sidewall. It's probably 35 psi.

The modern replacement size is 225/70R-15, and most are low speed rated, rock hard compound tires that lack the safely of a spiral wound nylon cap belt. They are also likely placarded at 35 psi max cold pressure. If you can find a higher speed rated tire in this size it will likely have a spiral wound nylon cap belt and a higher max cold pressure.

A good cold pressure range is 26-32. Higher pressure will improve handling crispness, but might be a bit harsher than lower pressures. It's a tradeoff. Experiment and pick what suits you best.

I can remember back in the day when radials were first introduced on domestic cars. I always thought that they looked like they were going flat...the recommended air pressure was so low.

Got out the owners manual for my '76 and according to it, they're supposed to look sort of flat. It suggests tire pressures of 20 psi front and 26 psi rear.

Re: 1975 tire pressure sticker in driver door

SO, ( i just got back in town)- the 20/20 is correct, the repro I bought from Paragon is marked 20/psi front 26 rear and they sell it as proper for L 75-77 also the edges are not rounded on the sticker as the originals are and the number PSI 20/20 lettering is incorrect. incorrect.

THIS YEAR I have five Firestone 500 that had been spares never on ground, thought that would be cool on my 75 convertible. Tire pressure was very low after 47 years as spare, a couple weeks after inflating them two blew apart just sitting in the garage waiting to be put on the car- had they been on the car, driving or even just in as spare- the damage would have been substantial.

Mabie Paragon 's 20/26 psi was correct for some other years- mabie somebody with a 76 or 77 might take a look at their original.
Above Marks says the owners manual on his 76 says 20/26 so mabie Paragon sticker is correct for 76 77 ???
Take a look what is on the door of your 76, 20/26?

20 PSI ? Wow, that is low I have alwsy run 30-32 when we slalom raced late 70's seems we put PSI up to 40/42.
Thanks Does anybody know where to get a proper 20/20 PSI sticker ?

Re: 1975 tire pressure sticker in driver door

Paragon now has a semi proper reproduction tire pressure sticker for 75 Corvette part# is 8079, / part 8080 is still sold as L75 to 77. IF Erics June build 75 has the 20/20 thats pretty late in 75, anybody have a 75 with the 20/26 sticker- I doubt it.
Paragons repro 75 still looks like numbers are the incorrect style, compare to Erics original and is still missing rounded corners- minor differences, but still off a small bit Thanks, Bob

I have made my self a reproduction of the 334428 20/20 psi door jam sticker, appears to have been used 73-75, I think it is much better than currently available stickers. It will be a week until I have it in my hands, I had to make 100 and need 1. If you want on let me know,
