Quick question on Knock-Off Wheels for C2 Corvettes

I'm sure this has been ask and answered here but can not find it when searched>

When the spare knock-off is in the tire carrier was it "Face Up or Face Down" from the Factory?
Any reason for the decision on how it was placed? Has some been seen in reverse? Thanks in Advance>Larry
P.S. From the judging meets I have gone to it looks like the Spare Wheel/Tire is always face down to show
the judges the wheel info but was it that way when car was delivered to the customer? I can see both ways
being logical because when face up it is much easier to check the air pressure when needed.

    Larry,
I'll take a WAG on this one. There's no instruction in the AIM for this process, so I'm betting they simply tossed a wheel and tire in the tub and moved on. Personally, I always store my redline "face up" so as not to have the redline rubbing on the bottom of the tub. As far as judging is concerned, the wheel and tire are removed from the tub for the judges to examine, so I'm not sure what you say you're seeing at judging meets.

It makes no difference to a judge how you lay the tire down. We just turn it over to look at the other side.

Thanks Leif/Harry>When I got my Top Flight awards(66 and 68 Models) I just drop the tub and leave the back edge
of the tire against the tub edge that is touching the ground. I left the movement of the tire up to the judges how they
        wanted to see things. Larry
