Oil fill tube on an L79; any wicking potential?

Is there a reason to use any sort of oil resistant sealer (hidden from view of course) around the ID of the hole where the oil fill tube inserts on an L79 intake? Specifically, is there any tendency for oil to wick up and be visible around the base of the fill tube?

Gary when i installed mine last year the fit was so tight none was needed , but it was a new nos one . If you are reinstalling your original maybe a little permatex #2 might be required

Yes, when installing a NEW fill tube (or dipstick tube), the tube is slightly larger than the OD of the orifice and "swages" into the orifice, creating a very tight seal and fit. However, with a used tube, the "swaging" occurred the first time it was installed, the tube OD thus reduced, and the fit is not as tight. So, sealer is necessary.
