Re: Pre-purchase inspection help....
Well, I spoke too soon. When Jim got home he checked the numbers. It appears that the engine stamp has been altered, there is a 7 stamped over the 0. He also said the HE stands for a 300 hp but the car has aluminum intake and the original 300 would have been cast iron. He also said the trim tags are short a number which he calls "rolled ID tags"(???)
Jim thinks that overall it is a quality frame off restoration with new bushing, bolts and clean undercarriage. Upgraded starter, new gas tank, and is a great driver, just not an NCRS correct car. Oh, the windshield wipers and radio don't work but the guy said he'd fix them.
What are your thoughts on this being an $80k car with what Jim found? Thanks
