Alignment shims for front suspension - their fit

If the alignment shims that I purchased for my '69 are the correct ones, should they slip in easily, or should they be tapped-in with a soft-blow type hammer to drive them home before tightening the bolts. Or, is their an accepted method of installing them?
The Chassis Service Manual doesn't address this, maybe because it's a no-brainer lol.
    Thanks for any help.

It's been awhile, but I recall as you loosen the upper control arm cross shaft nuts, the gap will open up to add new shims or remove shims as required. Once the proper shim stack is achieved tighten torque the nuts to spec.

It's the rear toe shims that should be a light interference fit with the last one (a thick one) requiring light tapping to seat. Then torque the nut with the rear suspension at normal ride height.
