    Removing a Steering Box

    Hi,
Does anyone have the order of operations for removing a steering box from a 1959?

    Thanks,
    John

Thanks Mike. Any recommendation on someone to rebuild the gears?

Leif I think Gary only does C2/C3's.

Joe Calgano may still be doing them. He helped Corvette Central create the reproduction shafts and gears. The repro box rebuild kit is made in Argentina.

Note that the worm gear is not made like originals and due to its configuration will require and special procedure to install. NOT the ST-12 CSM.

For a detailed summary of the rebuild kit procedure, see the Sticky DoRD link....

                John,

IIRC Joe Calgano to me in 2019 he was retiring.

If there's no NCRS rebuilder, search for a Tri Five Chevy steering box rebuilder.

Tom Parsons will do it. And he is good.

Warner Meier in Michigan is another good one.Masterworks Automotive Services in Michigan. If Tom has the time he is your best bet!
