69 Rear bumper mounting hardware- which washer is correct?

    Guys,

I'm looking at the rear bumper mounting hardware for my 69 coupe as I check boxes getting ready to have my car judged. I noticed in the AIM that there was only one style washer used for all the rear bolts, GM part # 9419276, but the body shop that did the paint and installed the bumpers used two different styles, a standard zinc plated flat washer, and a black oxide (?) plated serrated washer. See attached pics. Trying to figure out which is correct. Thanks for any help you can give.

    Mike

The black phosphate, serrated washer is correct.

AMK is correct on dimensions, GM refers to it as narrow outside series Type B Flat washer.

Page UPC-14-B1 shows 3 washers used for attaching the bumper braces and bumpers:

              #5: 9419276 - P. Washer
              #6: 103328 - L. Washer
              #11: 1362249 - Spl Washer (serrated)

The 1362249 serrated washer (see pic below) is used under the bolts and nuts that attach the outboard braces to the frame. All other locations use the 9419276 & 103328 washers together. As best I can recall, this configuration matches original cars I have seen. However, I find it interesting that the previous page in the AIM does not indicate use of the serrated washers on the outer braces of the front bumpers. The use of these washers is called out in the TIM&JG, pg 208 and I can't think of an instance when I didn't see them on known original cars. In the AIM, these would be UPC-14-A2, #14. The AIM describes these as #9419277, P. Washer. I do not believe this is correct. I think #14 should be a 1362294 serrated washer or similar.

I just hit the like button on Floyd's post, but nobody can see it.
