James, I get to work on a newly found 67 SB AC 4spd PS that has been on jack stands for the last 20+ years. The tank sticker can be seen when you fold back the boot. Dirty and on a tank that seems to be growing its own liner. So when the tank comes out and the sticker is explored we will look for the data you request. Scott

      Hi Scott,
Thank you for your interest. I don't know if you know my dilemma with my car and the tank sticker but before you remove the tank and sticker please don't fall into the problems I'm experiencing. I can elaborate If you want.
Please check to see if that is enough of the sticker (left) to DEFINITELY connect that sticker to your car.
I have been able to accumulate 17 with the SEQ reference. Thank you again, James (61744)

James, now Im curious about your dilemma. The saying "Horns of the Dilemma" is not what we need on this car. Would you please elaborate on yours so I can stay off the horns. Fogaley@sbcglobal.net The tank on this 67 Coupe is the worst Ive ever seen and of course the smell will stay with you for hours. It has to be replaced. Your advice will be appreciated. Thanks Scott

When you have so little left of the tank sticker on the tank, you really have a problem determining what options it left the factory with. However, connecting even scraps of a tank sticker with the car is simple, just not very informative. I am wondering if there are any proven techniques to clean up, remove, and preserve a tank sticker that is in very bad shape. Of course if most of it is gone, that is also a moot point.

Re: Request To All '67 owners with tank Orders (Stickers)

I would suggest this is no random happenstance.

Chevrolet had a process for building cars.

Has the research team looked at other Chevrolet's from this era?
Has anyone contacted the Heritage Conter to see if they would help get an answer?

Is there anyone left around that dealt with the Production operations?

(our two best that were there and might have known aren't, RIP John & Mike)

I know some would say so-what, I've had that when showing rotation number details on COre supports and other parts.

However... the thread was started and there is an answer, probably pretty straight forward if you can find the right person.

                Thank you for your input.
I think we all will agree with you that GM had a purpose for the SEQ reference. With help, we have looked at over a hundred of '67 stickers and have come up with 13 with the SEQ reference. The 13 shows a definite pattern. The letter corresponds with the month of Date REC and Exp. date of prod. Some SB and BB, St Louis and AO Smith. Interesting one shows NO Comp & Con but has a SEQ of K 16, a 390 conv.
Could you expound on your rotation number details?
Like you say, there is an answer.

Re: Request To All '67 owners with tank Orders (Stickers)

Mass production assembly lines, since their invention, all rely on sequencing of parts, Right Part, Right Time, Right Location.

On the mid-years specifically, the build sheet for a given vehicle had a number - rotation, sequence, etc.

Many of us have posted what these are and where they were written on the parts. The body is the biggest one, but that was not the end of that. A year or so back I posted where they put this rotation number on the bottom of the core supports.

That was a lot easier to see on a green painted metal AOS body than the black painted St Louis parts, this as an example.
I have not see all the data your team has assembled on this subject, I would need to see that to perhaps provide more insight.

Again I will say, Ok the guy/gal missed one, ok, doesn't matter if it was a 390HP St Louis side pipe car, what you and ht eother need to focus on was the process, 99% of them got the sequence, data is your friend on the road to reconstructing exactly what this was.

Might be good too as a refresher to go back and read John Hinckleys's mid year process papers again for fresh clues.
