I believe the modifications were made for clearance purposes (balancers & C/S pulleys) and some are slightly different because there were made by different manufacturers.
    Starting from the left side:
    1. Untagged bracket has a triangle stamping with a 3-pointed star inside and a large "rib" on bottom.
    2. 3786870 bracket with 1/2" hole has no stamping markings.
    3. 3786870 bracket from 64 Chev. 283 has a "WCF" stamping.
    4. 3860455 bracket from 65 Chev. 283 has no stamped markings but has a large "rib" on bottom.
    5. 3860455 bracket from 66 Chev. 283 has a WCF" stamping with a flat bottom.
    6. 3941114 bracket from 68 Chev. 307 has no stamped markings but has a flat bottom.

I have 8 more of these same brackets for a total of 14 in my collection.

There are no replacement bracket listed for the 3786870 bracket from 1965 to 1990 in any of my 6 different Chevrolet & GM Parts Parts History catalogs for service parts sold over the counter.
GM # 3860455 was replaced by GM # 3941114 in August 1968 as per Parts History.
The cradle bracket that looks quite different from the rest is the 3887017 shown in your Post #12. That style is what I believe is correct for a 1967 Corvette small block. Are you saying that the current parts counter replacement for the 1967 corvette small block is the 3941114 shown in your post #13? That would appear to be a step backward in terms of strength.

Joe, you've got to read my comments more carefully.
GM # 3887017 is the correct bracket for 1966 and 1967 Corvettes w/327 engines as listed in the assembly manuals. My Nov. 1981 Corvette parts catalog lists GM # 3928493 as the P/S Bracket KiT for 74-82 Corvette with includes a 3887017 bracket and a 3858138 support. My June 1979 Corvette Parts Catalog lists GM # 3928493 as the P/S Bracket KIT for 65-67 Corvette w/P/S and 65-78 Corvette (exc. 427 & 454).
The NOS 3887017 bracket and NOS 3858138 support in my photo in post #12 were purchased at Dobles Chev. (now Mirak Chev.) in Manchester, NH, in the 1980's in a GM box with a 3928493 label.

I stated that the 3941114 bracket is from a 1967 Chevrolet w/307 engine and it was replaced the 3860455 bracket originally used 1965-1966 Chevrolet w/SB engines, nothing to do with Corvettes.
