    Ed,

You need to know before Oct 6th as judging assignments are made 18 days before the start date which is Oct 20th. So a car count by Sept 27th would be very helpful in finding a judging assignment.

So right on. Going for that 500 has not been easy, COVID put a wrinkle in the process. Oh well SIERRA HOTEL, military term.

Dave, well said. Your needs are similar to mine. My reason to keep judging is two-fold. I love the cars and fellow members @ judges. This will be my last go-around. I would like to reach 500 level and have the next Mark of Excellence in the pipeline with my Base C-6. I presented a thought in Auburn and at Mobile. Utilize the knowledge of the 500 judges to pay it forward. I have been thinking about a program, authorized by NCRS, to go to a young base of future judges and generate a love for the Corvette. If the powers to be will authorize this program, I would be over the top in trying a small pilot program to see if the results bear fruit. Learned many years ago, tis wiser to listen than speak. My ears are open.

We are getting off the 1st question asked by Ed which was:
"I registered for this Regional and was wondering if the Flt. cars registered could be published".

We all would like a list to be posted I'm sure.

            Folks

We are not hiding the cars that are registered for the Texas Regional. I and Tim have been out of pocket for the last couple of weeks. We will give you an update on cars registered after Labor Day. They have been coming in slowly--so if you are inclined to bring a car I would suggest you register soon.

Regarding being picked to judge at a regional--any regional--as others have said team leaders like to pick judges they know and trust. They want consistency, fairness and product knowledge. When I started judging I attended many, many chapter meets and volunteered to OJ at many, many regionals. National team leaders tend to select judges who are willing to travel over those who do not because those who are willing to travel demonstrate a commitment to the NCRS. If you want to judge, volunteer to OJ at Frisco and attend Terry's advanced class to acquire some judging points.

            Bob

                  No I did not.

This is the latest two comments on car counts that I got from Bob Demmel today. "You may be waiting for a while as we don't intend to post the car count until we are sure of registrations" and"Talk to your national TL for a car count.

(Note: Pre-registration ends Sept 27th and Car registration ends Oct 6th which is to late to get a judging assignment.)

So if I want to judge any cars or get on a teamI have to contact 5 or 6 Team leaders to see if they have any cars to be judged?

With all due respect, simply put in your request(s) for a judging assignment on your registration. If you're chosen, great! If not, sign up to be an OJ and attend a judging school.
NTLs have the right to choose who they want without being made to feel guilty.
Waiting for a complete car count before publishing it seems reasonable to me.
Is a $5.00 hat really worth all this noise?

                      Mark,

If I don't get an assignememnt I'm out over $1000 to sit around. And OJ and judging schools don't help members with over 400 points. I am not the only member wanting this information and I shouldn't have to contact 5-6 team leaders. By the time the car count gets published it will be to late to get a judging assignement. The team leads give out judging assignments 18 days before the event which would be on Oct 2 or sooner. Car registration closes on Oct 6th which is past the judging assignment date.

You and I have a right to make comments on this TDB about how we feel. I'm not worried about a $5 hat but to spend a $1000 sitting around, maybe you got extra money I don't.

Re: Flt. cars for Texas Regional

Until a very short time ago, car counts were rarely published. Now, they are being demanded early and often. There is, to my knowledge, nothing written about publishing that info. If it's that important, seems like contacting 5 or 6 team leaders would be well worth your time.
Was a time when registrations were sent in and judging requests were made. If one was chosen to judge, great...if not, oh well. As for chasing points, to each his own. I've learned that points don't always equal knowledge.
There is more to NCRS than judging. Breaking bread and having adult beverages with friends is awesome. Being around way cool Corvettes ain't bad, either.
I respect your right to an opinion. With that being said, my opinion is the TX chapter is busy enough preparing for a great meet without any further demands.
The National Team Leaders phone numbers are readily accessible.
