Attached are 2 photos of a NOS 3 prong cigarette lighter housing stamped "CASCO" and "12V" that I bought at a swap meet in the 1980's. After researching on the web I found a cigarette lighter where my housing looks exactly alike the housing on a 55-60 Corvette cigarette lighter assembly. The end just has the #8-32 threaded stud. I am assuming it is GM # 3710847 but I suppose that it could be a 3788559 housing used on 61-62 Corvettes or even a 3741324 housing used on 58 Chevrolet passenger cars.
My 3 prong housing measures about 1.90" long not including the threaded stud.
I also have a used 61-62 Corvette cigarette lighter knob & element that fits perfectly in this housing. The knob looks like the 63 knob but is slightly smaller in diameter at the end (0.80" O.D.). The element measures about 1.03" in length and is stamped "CASCO" and "12V".
My 1963 lighter knob (0.87" O.D. at the end) with "63 CASCO" element (0.88" long) will not work in this housing.
I would appreciate any comments.
Dave
