    Wiper blade ARMS

The last MAJOR parts to install on my coupe. Just want some hints/suggestions and any warnings when installing. I KNOW the right wiper overlaps the left. Do I butt up the left arm to the lower windshield molding FIRST and then butt right arm against the left
arm or leave a small gap? Thank you, Jack J.

What year is your car? Are the arms "adjustable"? When complete, the blades should not touch either the trim piece or each other. After installing, wet the windshield and cycle the wipers to verify final location.

        Jack,

When I reinstalled mine after replacing my windshield, I cycled the wiper motor on and off so I'd know each male cowl spline was set at its park position.

Then, you place the female spline in the arm over the male spline protruding from the cowl.

The splines only allow a certain small degree range of rotation, so slide the 1st arm spline slightly down over the cowl spline to see where and how it's going to engage - don't push it all the way down to lock it yet until you're satisfied that the tip of the blade is as close as it can come to the lower windshield reveal molding - but not touch it.

3 test-fit tries should do it - 1 too close (or even overlapping) the reveal molding; the next one should be the right one (off the reveal molding on the glass with a small gap between the blade and the molding; but then go a 3rd time (one more) so you're sure the middle one is where you want it. Push it in until it locks down in place.

Same procedure for the other one except you're gauging the tip separation away from the 1st arm you just installed instead of the windshield molding. Make sense?
        thx,
        Mark

If you think you might be installing and removing the arms as you go through a trial and error routine -- there is a special tool made to remove the wiper arms - most vendors sell them - I got one from ZIP, mine was $7.50 a few years ago. Good tool - it will save your paint job.

They should be adjustable, if they are correct Corvette wiper arms. The adjustment is done with the side mount screw in the middle of the fat part of each arm. That screw moves the long extended part of the arm a little left or right to get your final setting of the wipers in the rest position.

For all years?? Or specific to 6?

I've never owned a C2 but the AIM's for C3's have a sheet titled, "WINDSHIELD WIPER SETTING PROCEDURE." It includes measurements for how close the wiper tip should come to the reveal molding through the full motion of the wiper. In my '69 AIM, the screws are refereed to as "A" in step 5.
