Re: 1973 Quadrajet Questions
Thanks for the heads up on this. The PCV system seems functional. I have already replaced most of the hoses as some were collapsed. The AIR pump was removed by the PO, but i do have it. That will be another project for this winter. My thought was that I would put the restored carburetor on along with the AIR pump and lines. With some luck, I will get this accomplished over the winter and the engine will be running well by the spring in it's original configuration.Tom Russo

Re: 1973 Quadrajet Questions
Hey Tom,
I have the 3rd edition of the JG - It doesnt have any pix specific to the 73 LS4 EGR valve. Im sure the 74 is close, but how close is it?
I can always ask around for pix. Do you know of an authoritative source for pictures of the EGR, TCS and other emissions equipment?
Thanks in advance

Re: 1973 Quadrajet Questions
Best authoritative sources are the team members who contributed to the 73/74 Revision. When you get to that point, start a new discussion thread and label it 1973 Emission Control Devices. Many continue to monitor the forum and more than willing to share their knowledge, expertise and photos.
Remember that 73 was the first year for EGR valves...their applications were fine tuned in later years. I suspect the LS4 EGRs were close in functionality given both big blocks.Tom Russo

Re: 1973 Quadrajet Questions
Hello All,
I just wanted to post an update for the Carburetor rebuild on my '73 LS4. I got the carburetor back the other day and the guy who did the work did a nice job. Im happy with the way it looks. I'm not sure how he did it, but the funky markings are gone from the main body. I thought I would share a few pix below to see what you guys think of the way it looks. You have seen many correctly restored carburetors and I have not. I would be interested in your thoughts. Now to deal with that blankety blank solenoid, not much info in the JG or the AIM....- Top

Re: 1973 Quadrajet Questions
It looks good. Fasteners, choke and air door have expected finishes and the dichromate on the body isn't over done.
I often see a green finish on the accelerator pump arm (like your original photos) and throttle shafts, and of course the idle solenoid is weathered.Mark Edmondson

Re: 1973 Quadrajet Questions
Thanks for the response Mark, I wasn't too sure about the dichromate but I really like the way the thing looks. I assume it will tone down a bit with time. I also think I found a replacement solenoid on Ebay so with any luck I can take another step forward with the car.
I really appreciate the help from the entire group!
