the 67 put away in 1974 was unbelievable, the stories from the owner were incredible. One of the few cars I have ever seen with the original exhaust donuts (white asbestos) in place.James A Groome

And many people did take pictures of it. Some of those people were not formally in my class -- NBD. Once on the lift people seem to come like flies to honey. Both on and off the lift that car, and the other Preservation Award cars, are available (with owners permission) for photos to anyone attending the meet.
There was a 1981 with just over 50 miles that I also used in my class. It also attracted a lot of attention.
There is something to learn from all the Corvettes at convention. That is why many people attend.Terry- Top

Correct Terry, and why people attend your Advanced Judging Seminar. We know we are going to see the latest Bowtie cars on display, so Gary Beaupre, if you are interested in such things, I suggest you sign up, as I do every meet.Big Tanks In the High Mountains of New Mexico- Top

Re: 1966 Bowtie candidates in Mobile?
Way back in 2008 when I was restoring a two-owner '65 396 equipped convertible, I attended the NCRS Nat'l Convention in St. Louis. I drove my Top Flight, Founders Awarded '64 convertible on the Road Tour to get there. I was gathering photo documentation for the '65 396 restoration and there just so happened to be a '65 396 Duntov once owned by Roy Sinor in attendance along with another '396 owned at that time by Gene Leonard. I introduced myself to the current owners and explained that I was in the middle of a '65 396 restoration and would appreciate the opportunity to photograph the car with his permission. They said I was welcome to take all the pictures I needed anywhere inside, outside and under the car which I did. These pictures proved invaluable in the restoration of the car. I attended later Regional and Nat'l Conventions to gather further documentation of '65 396 Corvettes to get further data of different cars.
I'm currently working on preparing for flight judging my single repaint '65 L79, a/c PS, PB, KO, equipped coupe that by dad bought in the early 1970's. I attended the Heartland Regional in 2021 and had the privilege of photographing an original, 18k mile '65 coupe. Again, introducing myself to the owner and asking his permission to photograph the car which he had no problem with.
You gain so much more knowledge by attending these events and getting to see the cars close up and get to know the owners. I don't think there is any member that would deny another member to photograph their car in the effort to gain information to better their knowledge.

Agreed Mr. West. The key is participating and attending, that is the only way a member can truly be engaged in the full benefits of NCRS. Remote things are fine, but attending every chapter, regional, and national you can is really key to getting the most out of the organization.Big Tanks In the High Mountains of New Mexico- Top
