    Bird cage with plumber's puddy??

    I could use a little help sorting out if this is factory or not.
    This is for my 68 (convertible), but has anyone found rather generous amounts of what appears to be "plumber's puddy" in the upper corners of their birdcage when replacing the windshield / trim? It is light gray and still tacky after many years

    The addition of any cement / adhesive, etc. to the corner trim is not in the AIM, or at least I have not found mention of it and think it was not factory.

    Thanks!

      Thanks Bob. It looked a bit "DYI" but glad to hear it is not. Seems to do a good job keeping the trim anchored down.

        Hello;
        Early in1968 production while working in Chevrolet dealer service department as a mechanic we helped the interior mechanic try to stop water leaks on coupes and convertibles.
        We used every available caulking method under and around stainless trim. On coupes some customer ask us to use multiple strips of caulk and did not take their hardtops off after.
        Customers expected no water leaks, even in a carwash.
        Rainwater is softwater and will find its way through the smallest gap.
        Early C3 production saw many Fisher Body reps visits to our Service department.
        The production body fit problems got better as C3 year progressed.
