Re: where were the seats upholstering for mid years?
Keith,
Check the AIM. As John Hinckley taught many of us - if individual part numbers are shown in the AIM, then it was assembled at St. Louis. No individual part numbers, then it came to St. Louis as an assembly.
According to the seat tags from my '57 it was M.S.&W.C that manufactured the seats.

Seats were supplied by Findlay Industries in Findlay Ohio. Seat tracks were produced by McInerney Spring and Wire Company. Then he states both plants received the seat frames, seat foam pads and seat covers separately both plants assembled the seats.- Top

Re: where were the seats upholstering for mid years?
C1 AIM's show the upper, lower and track part numbers only
63 AIM shows a partial breakdown & on the seat pages the AIM refers to as an "Assembly". Which tracks with what Mike Treece posted.
As an example; various parts shown in the '63 AIM Sheet D2 such as Trim ASM (assembly) were actually seat subassemblies.
Doors are the next section after seats and "Assembly" isn't in the parts breakdown.
