Question on coil wires that go through distributor shield on 69 SB

    Guys,

I'm putting the ignition shielding on my 69 sb and the JG states that the coil wires pass through the grommet that is in the back of the distributor shield. There's nothing in the AIM about this. I'm guessing this refers to the yellow and white special wires from the wiring harness, correct?

The wires to the coil do go through that grommet which makes removing the box that much more difficult. I long ago routed those wires under the box. The grommet is still there but nothing passes through it.

Thanks Jeff. I'm preparing to have this car judged in the coming months so I'll need to put them through.

Hi -69 #30751 was delivered to me without a grommet!
I ordered the car, (during the UAW strike), and it finally arrived at the dealership on oct. 31, which was a fri; and I picked up the car the next day.
Car has never been out of my possession,or worked on by anyone except me. Only items disturbed or changed under the hood are: plugs, air filter, fuel filter, and mas. cyl.
Car is low mileage and un-restored, so if I ever have it judged,I will leave it as is ,and take the point loss!IMG_20220801_172203842.jpgIMG_20220801_172623461_BURST000_COVER.jpg

My 1970 was delivered without the grommet the spark plug wires go through that is visible in the center of your first photo.
I got one from the parts department and drove the car over 60,000 miles. Didn't seem like a big deal to me at the time.

Hi Terry- Guess I am confused- I thought there was a question about the + and - distrubutor wires going through a grommet in the aft upper center of the ignition shielding? All my "spark plug wire" grommets are intact, but I have a 3/4 in. "hole" in the upper aft end of my dist. cover, that does not have a grommet, or any wires going through it!
Maybe you did not notice it in the picture?

I thought the subject was missing parts from the factory. My bad. I didn't mean to change the subject.
