    Original carpet help

Hi I am preparing my 75 for judging this fall .. my car is mostly original 1 owner with 10k documented miles.. however one of the members from a corvette club told me my carpet was not original , and I thought it was .. he said in 75 the jute padding under the carpet was brown and mine is gray .. Any help would be appreciated. .. thank you

    Anthony,

Don't know if you have it already or not but an invaluable tool to any planned restoration or attempt at judging is your year's Technical Information Manual and Judging Guide. I checked the NCRS store and there is a 75-77 specific year available. It's highly likely that this book will include info on the color of the Jute padding.

Anthony- most likely your carpets and the jute are original and what some guy told you is wrong. But definitely do as the post above says and get the judging guide. Then gently clean up your car to prep for judging and make everything work. Don’t change anything unless it is obviously an aftermarket part. If it is possibly original leave it there. Then find out at judging what is “correct” and what isn’t. Good luck and welcome to the club.
