Re: 1994 BOSE CD won't accept CD FIX? & console sticky
Bob------
One has to understand that this system is very old technology and probably totally obsolete by today's standards. The last of these was installed in a Corvette 26 years ago.
Actually, the system was not completely of Bose manufacture. The in-dash radio head unit was manufactured by Pioneer or Panasonic. So, CD problems should be attributable to them. I'm not sure of the manufacture of the receiver unit (under dash or in rear compartment depending on year) but I think it was manufactured by Delco Electronics. Only the speaker units were manufactured by Bose. As has been stated by others, the main problem with the speaker units is the amplifiers and, specifically, the capacitors used in the amplifiers. For that, I do blame Bose. I believe they used some rather inferior capacitors.
I can tell you that, at the time, this system produced wonderful sound and was state-of-art. Of course, all these years later, like just about everything electronic, the quality of the sound is not up to current standards. But, there are lots of things on older Corvettes that are not up to current standards.
