    Clutch Rod Bushing

    Ref: 1957 Corvette

A few years ago the replacement rubber bushing that goes between the clutch pedal rod and the Z bracket was not of hard enough durometer rubber and would wear out within a few hundred miles. Does anyone have experience with these to know if our suppliers have corrected this problem?

If so, I will buy one. Otherwise I will have to find another solution.

The reproductions are still not good. Rubber is too soft. One failed in less than 1 year on my friends 60. My NOS one is still going strong 5 years later. You can still find some NOS ones, there were other cars that used them as well such as the 55-57 Chevys.

I also found this kit (have not tried it) but looks promising. I'd give this a shot before installing another rubber repro unless you are getting the car judged.

Went through my C1 old parts, found 3 NOS bushings from late 70s, numbers on rubber are: 62152, FG, Harris, and three different numbers, 312, 339 23, mold numbers? Also an original bolt, replated long ago, they look to be in good shape, not used.

If you reduce the tension of the gorilla spring by adding a wire loop extension of 1", the force on the bushing will be reduced. Use coat hanger wire. It has worked for me.

Dan. If you select 1959 Corvette on the year and model selecton, a message comes up: "Will not fit 1959 Corvette."

There are 3 Dan's in this post now . If that's directed to my post, I think that part will work since the Tri fives used the same original bushing as Corvettes did. "Also fits 1958 passenger car and 1956-1962 Corvette" from this link:

Dan Bachrach. I checked the web site that you just posted. You are correct. the kit will wrok on the C1 Vette. I don't know why the first link said that it would not work on a 59 Vette.
