    Drivers foot well carpet application

Does the carpet under the '67 foot pedals terminate under the firewall insulation or does it glue to the relief area at the bottom of the firewall insulation? I have seen both and need to know which is correct. Thanks.

Thanks Brian. I figured that, but wanted to be sure having seen both.

So, was the carpet installed prior to the firewall insulation or was the carpet pushed up under the installation...and, if so, how??

I would say no to your first question and scratch my head on the second. What is curious is the insulation has a recessed area that is about 1.5" wide and runs across the bottom. When the carpet is laid in that recess it aligns flush with the rest of the insulation. Thought provoking for sure. What do you actually this is correct Leif?

According to the 7th edition of the TIM&JG for the '67 model year, and I quote:
"The forward foot well carpet section tucks upward under the firewall insulation outer skin."

I still want to know how this is accomplished without damaging the firewall insulation.

Often wondered about that, too. Have attached 2 photo's of very original cars when investigating the cut for gas pedal. Repo carpets give you extra material in the area.

Both show carpet on top, remember the carpet was install at the Final Trim Line, so assume fire wall insulation, fuse block, pedals, and most other stuff already installed.

The photo's both show that the carpet was finished along the top, these are both 64, was later carpet finished along top?
My fire wall strip has remains of glue in that area leading me to think it was on top. SO I'm going with "glue to the relief area at the bottom of the firewall insulation"

I cannot speak to the order of installation, just the final configuration.
I am not to that part of my restoration yet.
Right now I plan to tuck the carpet under before inserting the plugs that hold the insulation to the firewall.
