    C2/C3 fuel tank

I just removed the fuel tank out of my 65, after removing i see that it has a pressure relieve valve on the top side
about the size of a Quarter that is flush to the tank, my Question, I believe they used this pressure valve starting in 68 or 69
obviously it came out of my 65...so am i correct to say that this 68/69 tank with the valve, will fit the 63/67 body....
    thanks for the input....

The tanks with the integral pressure vacuum valve were first used on PRODUCTION Corvettes beginning in late 1969. They later became the SERVICE tanks for all 1963+ Corvettes. So, your tank has been replaced at some point after 1969 with a GM SERVICE tank. There is one other physical difference between original 63-E69 tanks and the later tanks with pressure/vacuum valve. That difference involves the large depressions on the ends of the tanks. The original 63-E69 tanks had rounded depressions. The later tanks had "rectangularish" depressions.

A side note: GM advised that whenever the tanks with integral pressure/vacuum valves were installed on Corvettes not originally equipped with that type tank that a SEALED fuel cap (1970-74 type) should also be used. However, interestingly, late 1969 Corvettes with the integral pressure/vacuum valve tank did not use a sealed cap.

In any event, I HIGHLY recommend that when 1963-E69 Corvettes are fitted with tanks with the integral pressure/vacuum valve that a SEALED cap be used. This will help prevent gasoline fumes from entering the passenger compartment under certain conditions. Save the original vented cap for judging ONLY.
