I have taken apart and cleaned the aluminum gear housing for the generator on my 61 low horse FI. What type of lube should I use for the gears of this tachometer drive unit? Thanks! Mark

Re: Lube For 61 FI Generator Gear Housing
If you could find some (at a reasonable price), I would recommend long-discontinued GM #1960954. However, I really think that any good chassis lube, preferably a synthetic, would work just fine and, personally, I would not hesitate to use such for the application.
A great multi-purpose grease still available from GM is GM #1051344. You can use this for just about everything on the car from wheel bearings to clutch release bearings to whatever. The only problem with it is that it's supplied in a tub and not a tube. Another great multi-purpose grease is GM #12377985 but I think it may be discontinued. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
