Hello,
I bought an exhaust panel for my '67 (undercar exhaust) from a well-known Corvette parts supplier.
It was advertised to me as an original, used, 1967 GM panel.
Now that I'm getting around to using it I wanted to verify I really have what I think I have.
I did some research and to the best of my ability I understand that the tail exhaust panels for the '66 and for the '67 are exactly the same, with the exception that the '66 panels were gray fiberglass and the '67s were black fiberglass.
Is that accurate?
Secondly I don't see any part number on this part that looks like a GM number.
What I do see is the following number molded in the fiberglass on the back:
DT 4Q - 1868 70 ..
See attached photo.
The back of the panel appears to be smooth, black fiberglass, not gray or white.
However, I have seen pictures of earlier panels with GM part numbers molded in the back.
Can anyone tell me if I have an authentic 1967 GM panel?
Or is it aftermarket?
Thanks in advance.
David
