'66 lower windshield garnish molding clips

I'm almost ready to install the windshield in my '66 roadster, and need to source some of the clips that hold the lower garnish molding on. When I disassembled the car several years ago, I found that the windshield had been replaced, and also found that there were clips missing from the lower molding. I found that there were nine original clips there, but the clips on the ends of the molding (where the side molding comes down and joins the lower) were not there. Per what I read on The Forum about the Paragon clips being the best, I called them, only to be told that they have been discontinued, and the only ones available are the imported ones. As a result, I'm trying to locate a few of the clips, either original clips or the Paragon clips, that a NCRS member may have for sale. I'm also curious how the side molding clip meshes with the end clip on the lower molding. Please let me know if you have any of these clips available, and if so, how I can obtain them.

    Thanks,
    Steve Leunig

You need two types of clips, 11 for the lower molding that screw into the windshield frame and 2 for the lower outer end of the side molding. The clips on the side molding slide into the inside of the molding and attach to the clips in the windshield frame.
Original lower clips work much better than the Awveco replacements but are hard to come by and when they lose their tension are worthless. On a roadster, if you don't have the originals, the Awveco clips that are available at any Awveco dealer or most of the Vendors and on eBay will work. I have found they work better with an original weatherstrip than the fatter aftermarket weatherstrips. The original end clips that slide into the side molding pop up on eBay from time to time but non show to be available now. Try Rich P, David S or Dean in Portland. If none are available you may need to give the available ones a try. Test fit the moldings before you install the windshield to make sure they are not bent
