Im replacing my Plenum cover on my #7380 unit in my 65. Any thoughts about the rubber gasket sold by Jim Neuffer or a cork replacement like the original gasket. Any help is appreciated.

Re: FI Plenum Cover Gasket recommendation
Dave, The gasket your friend gave you. If it's a rubber one take note. I have learned the hard way that the rubber one can cause a lot of grieve unless you do this. Tighten the 6 long bolts down about three times. Leave a lot of time between the three intervels.
I have been accused of leaving those bolts loose.
Anyhow if any of you have a midyear fuel injection restored by anybody use a 6 point 5/16 socket and see if yours are loose.
Trivia: The top of the midyear plenums were the plenum lid goes was used by Rochester Products as cast. That may have been a mistake.
I have a machinists granite service plate that is 12 x 18. Has 100 grit etc sand paper on it.
Only takes about 5 minutes to lap aka sand the top of the plenum smooth. They are ALL out of wack.
DO NOT use the original hard as a rock white gaskets. The reason we see so many plenum lids cracked around the bolt holes is because of those gaskets. Use the rubber ones.
Long ago here someone said the first sand cast fuel injections or very early '63's used a rubber gasket. I forgot if this is true or not. It might have been Michael Hanson that said that. JD- Top
