    2003 Z06 Oil Leak

My daughter's 2003 Z06 has developed a bit of an oil leak at the pan. We have done a cursory examination but before we start pulling out the tools and getting too deeply into this I thought I would ask if there are any specific places that are common for leaks on these engines and where we should start looking first? Yes, we have checked any easily accessible fasteners and all seem tight.

This is a common problem as well as the rear main seal leaking oil. Since the oil pan is a two part pan it's difficult/all most impossible to replace the pan gasket, engine needs to be raised up for the pan to clear the suspension. I replaced the oil pressure sensor, the oil temp sensor still had the leak. I was told to reseal my engine that they would have to pull the engine to do it right cost $3400. I also tried various stop leak additives still it leak oil. I ended up selling the car as is.

Norm, The two part oil pan II not a job for the home do it yourself,There are some special tools to support the engine to the frame, And the removal of the lower sub frame. The upper oil pan is the most likely the leak.

Your comments confirm what we were afraid of but they are helping us in the process of deciding what to do with this car. I don't think it's a job we will be tackling ourselves. Thanks guys.
