Steering box removal?

On a 67 L79 how do I remove the steering box? I have removed the pitman arm. I have removed the three bolts holding the box. I have loosened the 12 point rag joint bolt to the column. I cannot extend the box far enough to get it off the column. Do I have to remove the column?

Joe you need to remove both 12 point bolts on rag joint, and try to slide it up the shaft toward column. The shaft on steering box has a cut out on the shaft that the bolt goes through, without it removed no way it will come off shaft, the other shaft will let the rag slide upward with bolt removed.
