Correct paint for '62 oil fill tube

All the vendors seem to have wrong paint color (too much silver without greenish hue) and need recommendation of a paint closest to original color. Appreciate any suggestions, Thanks. Bruce Green

We used the FORD Argent Silver for out '62 FI car. This was back in the 1990's but it passed judging all the way though the year 2005.

Try Ford part number PM-19K207-AA. The Ford Paint data is from paintref.com

That may not be the color that is approved today for judging. Todays favorite color has a fair amount of green to it. I have the paint info and will get back to you tomorrow. John

Thank you John. Amazon has VHT SP188 Ford Argent Silver Wheel Paint.........at my age my eyes may be playing tricks but it seems to have a tint of green, your thoughts? Bruce

Bruce, I really like the VHT SP188. It appears to b a tad lighter than the Plastikote GM 7203.
Which is difficult to find. I am excited James West put the info up here.

Bruce, The VHT SP199 on Amazon. I ordered a can for $19.95 but the cap color is as silver as can be. No hint of green. Now to wait and try it out in a few days, John

Thank you John. I thought Dupli-Color Spruce Green BFMO362 may be a close color until I saw lid...............it too seems to have a silver hue with no hint of green. The search continues. Bruce

If you can find some, would the argent silver with a green hue for the early rally wheels be an option?

Found this at a hobby shop.............think its close? My intent is to paint oil fill tube with Argent Silver then top coat with this. Will follow up with result later. BruceIMG_0529.jpg

Respectfully disagree John. I am doing a cosmetic engine bay detail retaining ALL factory parts for a friend so not real familiar with '62's. Regarding color of oil tube after using paint process mentioned in previous post, I and the owner agree it has the necessary green tint. I tried taking a pic of tube but camera does not show correct greenish/silver hue as well as in person. BruceIMG_0540.jpgIMG_0434 (1).jpg
