    1956 Fuel Cap

    I have tried searching archives for info on C1 fuel caps and cannot find anything. Can someone tell me what they have written on them as far as part number or anything, plain. I have seen a gas cap saying it is correct for 546-61 and is a AC GT-23 cap but not sure. Judging manual does not indicate any markings.

      The one I have purchased from a reputable vendor as an original has no external markings and has only the "Eaton" logo metal stamped on the left tang of the locking tab internally. No part nos., etc., visible anywhere.

          Only markings are the word Eaton on the cap.

              The 53-57 cap is listed in Grp. 3.028 part #3708440. Dr Ed Gurdjian wrote a great artcle on gas caps for the 1958-62 in Vol. 10 number 1. While he did not refer to the earlier caps his articles were always well researched and written and worth reading. He was also a good friend hated to see him move out of Michigan.
