1978 Corvette. Dash Speakers Ohm Impedance

A friend wants to buy new dashboard speakers for his 78 Silver Anniversary car.

Many speakers offered as "correct" or "correct replacement" are listed as 4 Ohm.

Several websites say the the original speakers are 8-10 Ohm.

This is for a factory radio..

Which is correct, 4 Ohm or 8-10 Ohm?

The 1978 Corvette speakers were 10 OHM and that's the only impedence I recommend for use with original radios. The use of 4 ohm speakers will ruin the radio.

As a matter of fact, all 1963-82 Corvette radios used 10 ohm speakers.

Thanks for the info. I thought that original speakers were 8-10 Ohm...or more correctly 10 Ohm. I will relay this information to him so he can order the correct items. Some catalogs and online sites sell 4 Ohm speakers as "originals".
