1964 antenna top chrome nut

Is there a proper/right size socket for the nut? I have to remove my antenna and I don't want to "bubba" it up since it's new. Thanks in advance. Jack J.

I think you will find that there are small "cut-outs" at the bottom of the nut. If so, these are the contact points for an antenna nut wrench. You can purchase one of these for a very reasonable cost from online sources or, even, from Harbor Freight.

Thanks Joe, unfortunately my antenna has the hex nut configuration. Obviously not correct. Seems a 1 1/4 is too big and a 1 1/16 is too small (Harbor Freights sockets). I’ll have to try perhaps a metric socket or the “Bubba” adjustable wrench.

Does the nut you have not have "notches" at the bottom?

Reproductions of the original GM #3820674 are not that hard to come by and not really very expensive.

Just yesterday, I was online, looking for the correct part from various suppliers. Joe, on another topic, what suppliers recently have been sold/purchased/consolidated? Seems I recollect a “couple” but I’m not sure. Thanks again, Jack J.
