I am getting ready to rivet the brackets back onto the bottom of the battery box after some repairs. When cleaning the inside of the box it is clear that there has been acid in there over the years as the glass is just disintegrating (powdering off). I have sanded it to get most of the loose stuff off. I would like to put a fresh coat of glass/resin in there to reinforce the bottom and seal it. I am worried however that the new glass/resin will not bind properly since there may still be some old acid residue in the old glass. Does anyone have any experience with this situation? I don't want to do this twice...
Thanks,
Mark
