1963 Powerglide Dipstick Painted or Natural?

I have the 7th edition judging manual and cannot seem to find if the Powerglide dipstick
should be natural or painted black. Anyone know?

I found it on pg. 196 - either is acceptable.

7th Ed pg 147 - "base engine and L75 gloss black painted handle" L76 and L84 "chrome plated except early '63 to about VIN 6,000 which were gloss black". Bruce

bruce: I think your "chrome plated" refers to the engine dipstick . the OP wanted info on the powerglide dipstick.i'm accustomed to black PG dipsticks . mike

7th Ed. '63/'64 pg.196 states "the transmission tube is either natural or painted semi-gloss black and runs to the right side of the distributor". My original '63 PG tube (04/26/63) is natural and not painted but I can't comment on when some may have been painted. Bruce

Yes, but that refers to the tube. What about the loop on the dipstick?

"The flat steel loop dip stick handle and skirt have a natural unpainted steel finish" per 7th Ed. pg 196. Bruce
