On a 1966, How In The World Do I...

...remove the special retaining nut that holds the windshield wiper switch to the dash? I see the two slots, located 180* apart and that means a special tool is needed. I looked on line but could not find a tool that slides over the switch's 1/2" diameter threaded stem. I find only 3/8" and 11/16".

I'm working on this car and I'm growing desperate, as the regional meet is coming up fast and I need to replace the switch in order to get full points on washer/wiper. Does anyone know where I can get the needed tool?

    Any help is much appreciated.

    Thanks

Don try Paragon for their # 12593. 1-800-882-4688. They ship fast. A number of vendors sell them. I got one a long time ago from Long Island. Good luck

Needle nose pliers do the trick. Just go slow!

Get a cheap deep well socket that fits over the threaded area. Then grind off either side on the end leaving a couple of tabs protruding 180 deg apart. It should look like the Paragon tool when done.
