1963 Amp Gauge Question

I have a rebuilt gauge and all new wiring, alternator, voltage regulator, etc. However, when I start the car, the amp needle pegs to the charging right, then as the car warms up, the needle works it's way back to pretty much center. At that point it still jumps or jitters a bit.

Thoughts??? Again, everything is new.
