Stuck Spill Valve on 63 FI unit

I cannot get the spill valve out of the fuel body of my 63 fuel injection unit. The manual says to use a heavy wire in one of the spill valve holes, it's not working for me. I was thinking to use an EZ out in the bottom spill valve hole.

    Any suggestions,

    Please don't

Your '63 nail/thumbtack spill valve body is probably stuck in place by an old rubber o-ring around its middle section. That's not uncommon. The safest way to remove this spill valve is to push from the top, not pull from the bottom.

After removing the fuel bowl cover and axle link, place a section of tubing over the "nail" head and tap out the spill valve body with a hammer. Do NOT impact the nail head itself or the splash guard washer, just push on the spill valve body. The photos below show a tool I made from 5/16" tubing.

I was hoping to not have to disturb the axle link. That means I will need to remove the lead plug. Looking at the repair manual I did not see how to replace the lead plug

      Thank you for your reply

One more thing, Looking at the Servicing guide I don't see reference to a splash washer is that the disk on top of the spill valve by the nail?
1)How do I get that off
2)Where do I get another sealing ball and splash washer (mine looks a little rough)
3)Please send a picture of your removal tool

        Thank you

Years ago I had a stuck spill valve on an injector I was rebuilding. I was breaking tools in it so I sent it to John D and he got it out and sent it back to me. It was kind of spendy but I passed the expense on to my client and was happy not to damage anything. I recommend John Degregory.
            It's a good life!

I was able to remove the stuck spill valve with advice from Bramlett and an unexpected call from John DeGregory to talk me through the procedure.
I used a stout wire rod the size of the hole inside of the spill valve bent at 90 degree angle. This gave me enough hold to be able to twist the valve back and forth using vice grips on the rod and also to gently tap up on the rod to loosen the valve. The valve came out through the bottom with no need to remove the ratio lever and linkage. Patience and a lot of luck will do it.

What ever you all do try and never to remove what some here called a splash washer above the spill valve. I don't know what the correct name is by I call it a domed welsh with a hole in center for the nail to poke up.
Why not remove? If you don't have the correct tool it will not stay in. Also if one is removed when I get the unit I use a repro that I have cadmium plated for a tag more OD. Also I have a special tool for installing the part.
I have also reused an original but first tell my plater to put some heavy cad plating on it.
