my 1965 327/350 convertible fuel sender deteriorated beyond repair. I replaced it with the offering from LIC from several years ago-incorrect design, mediocre performance. Today I replaced it with a new item from Corvette Central-appears identical to the original. I tested it on the car before installing-worked perfectly.
Problem now after filling tank and test drive: reading over 1/4 tank too low. If my reasoning is correct, I need to bend the shaft attached to the float, upward towards the rear deck lid of the car. The question is how?
Has anyone had experience with this situation such that they have a technique to make the bend with the sender still mounted in the tank? I can get one arm into the tank, but no leverage. Any way to estimate how much to bend if I remove it from the tank? Trial and error is pretty time consuming in this case.
Thanks for input.
