    Vehicle history

    Good day, all.

Would love to find out the owner history of my '68. I can trace back to the mid eighties' then I hit a wall. Does anyone know anybody presently who provides this investigative service?? Mr. Gould did back in the day.

    Thank-you.

Did you order the delivery data information from the NCRS. It will tell you the dealership the car was delivered to. You may be able to figure out more about the car from the original dealership.

Hello, Bob. I did order the delivery data info from the NCRS. Money well spent. Selling dealership was Baker Chevrolet, 650E 5th Ave, Gary, Indiana. Zone: 11, Dealer: 023. My research shows dealership closed in the early 70s'. Empty parking lot now.

Wish I would have used Mr. Gould's services when I had the chance. We are all getting older and as time passes by - this info is getting harder to obtain. Thinking out loud here - if the original owner of my '68 was 20 years old when he/she purchased it - he/she would be 74 years old now. If possible - would love to here the stories if the owner was willing to correspond. Would be cool to obtain a pic of the car from back in the day. Or even better - a window sticker or bill of sale - I could only dream. My search continues...

          Regards.

I would do searches of the dealership and try to locate old employees or the dealership owners family. I was successful in locating the original owner of my 63 that way. The original owner had passed away but I was able to locate and meet his son who had driven the car as a 17 year old. Remember most dealerships didn’t sell a lot of Corvettes so they may remember your car.

Thank-you, Bob. Great suggestion. Awhile back I did locate a former body shop manager @ Baker Chev Inc who now lives in Arizona. He did have great stories about the dealership but no memory of my '68. Again - a long time ago. I can't even remember what I did last week. LOL. I did manage to get a pic of the dealership back in the day. Contact with the Gary, IN library yielded me copies of old newspaper dealership advertisements and dealership telephone book phone number listings.

That is awesome to touch base with someone who has ties to your car from new. Just curious - was the son willing and excited to talk about his father's old '63??

Don't get your hopes up. This information is long gone from the Dealerships even if the Dealership still exists. Ever since 9/11, it seems like all this information is a secret. Why doesn't the NCRS approach GM and get the information we would all like to have?
