I changed my 66 over to O-ring about 10 years ago and never had a problem. The kit comes complete with all the items that you need. It is not hard but a little messy. You do NOT have to be a master mechanic to do the change over. At the same time I converted over to DOT 5.

I guess the question is, are there 2 kinds of caliper pistons. Are pistons the same for lip seals,as opposed to O ring seals?

Pistons are specific for original lip seal and o-ring so you need the correct pistons for the seal type you are using,

This probably does not help; however, you have the traditional GM type of piston and seal (disc and spring) that most rebuilders use and there is a puck and seal by a company called Precision Engineering.
