    Corvette Transport to AL National

I have contacted Reliable Transport, to take my Corvette from NJ to the National and Return. They are telling me they are not able to support this event. They are listed a the Preferred Carrier of the NCRS in their Drive Line add. I also contacted Intercity and they have no equipment for the National as they are all tied up with Pebble Beach which is in Aug. Anyone else having trouble getting transportation to the National?

Guess I am the only one having this problem. Who is the Carrier the NCRS is supporting if Reliable is not it?

Sadly, finding transport seems to be an ongoing issue for many.
I wonder if larger companies like Reliable and Intercity are also experiencing driver shortages and other staff challenges.

The driver shortage disappears if you are willing to pay $5 per mile.
Found that out the hard way trying to book for Palm Springs last year.

            Ed,
Having been involved with several transportation arrangements for National Conventions I learned that this is a difficult trip for any auto transport company unless you have multiple cars and a convenient pick up and drop off locations. Difficulty is you have a small window of time to do the drop off on Saturday in Mobile and a very small window of time to pick the cars up Thursday afternoon in Mobile. Between Saturday and Thursday afternoon the driver must wait as there is literally no time for him/her to sell their service while they re waiting. If you have multiple cars and convenient pick up/drop off points you can get a truckload price and split that with the others. I was able to pull it off but it was not easy.
            Good luck with it.

I had 6 twice and it worked pretty well. Once we had 7 and that really cut down on the cost.
So much for Reliable being an NCRS sponsor.

One of the other issues of it being in AL - it's not near any major hubs to help with cost and logistics.
I found this out recently when trying to ship something.

                    Corvette storage

I live in Mobile. If anyone needs Corvette storage on either end of the convention to help with transport, I'll park one of my "regular" cars outside and let you use my secure garage.

                        Re: Corvette storage

Thanks guys for all the replies. My 72 has been to numerous Nationals, but never trailed, so this is new to me. My plan as of now is to drive it to Mobile on the Road Tour, and for the first time trailer it home. Gary Dukeman gave me the name of an independent carrier to return it to NJ. This may all change as we get closer.
