I just recently sourced what I believe to be a correct AC 40083 fuel pump rebuildable core for my '65 L79 engine. I'll give an update when it arrives. Plan to have Hal Houghton perform the restoration if it is a good core.

Hal did a 40083 for me, VERY nice, a real craftsman !

Ask him if he can, he replated my screws and stamped base plate, not sure how the magnesium should look, it was clean but not shiny.

Yes he is. He restore an AC 4657 pump for my '64 many years ago. It still looks great and performs flawlessly with today's gasoline.

Thanks for the info. My 40083 fuel pump core is scheduled to arrive tomorrow. I may just call and get one of Hal's rebuild kits and hold onto it for a few months. I am in no hurry to get the pump rebuilt at this time and would much rather have Hal do the rebuild. I'll probably go ahead and get the bottom plate replated along with the screws, at least that part will be done. I am in need of a plating company that will do dichromate, my local shop does not.

If you learn of a way to refurbish the magnesium, upper body of the 40083, let us know.

And if you talk directly with Hal, please tell us what the prospects are for having Hal do restoration in the future.
