After reading all previous posts I could find on this subject, I didn't find instructions on reinstalling the cables. It seems they can be simply pulled out after removal of the barrel nuts and disconnecting the handle end, but how are the cables reinstalled? The left side looks easy but I can't see where the right side cable enters the grommet from under the dash. It seems that a braided nylon line attached to the ends at the latches before removal could then be used to fish them back in later. Please help. Thank you.

Re: 1962 Hood Release Assembly
Thomas, It's a bit tricky to see but iirc the AIM has a diagram showing the routing for the right side. As I recall it shows it's positioned forward of the cowl vent along the top edge. But to make the bend from the engine bay is tight.
I've found it's easier to route it differently. I think I've run it a bit rearward of the cowl vent and held by the harness clips(under the T-Bolts for the windshield), so the cable doesn't have a sharp bend when it comes into the firewall area from that passenger side latch. Then back forward again to make a smooth bend back to the handle area.
No closeups inside but seeing the way the pass cable enters the firewall shows it can be tight unless it's routed rear of the cowl vent. I'm pretty sure I did that on this '61 which uses the same latches as 62. There should be a grommet at each cable as it enters the firewall also. Hard to see here.
