    C2 Dash panel capacitor termination

In looking at some tasks I would like to do in a few weeks (the weather is starting to get nice and I am recovering from recent surgery). One includes determining the terminal connection for a capacitor that is mounted to the base of dash cluster near base of ignition switch. Any help appreciated.

Both my 65's show it connected to a wire that goes into the main harness.

      Hi Jim
I just realized that I did not include the year of my car in my request for information, 63. Not sure how much they may differ. But that is the location of the capacitor I was referring to. Thanks for the photo. Hope I find such a connection for the capacitor. And, I did notice something else that caught my eye just above and somewhat to the right of the ignition switch. The light for the ignition key. At some point in the next few weeks I need to look under my dash to locate this light and reinstall. I had the ignition switch/core out for repair and the bulb is hanging somewhere in that area.
Again many thanks. I need to look around for some detail photos of the wiring side of my dash with components in the views. That would be a big help.

Rich, As Jim showed it's a heavy gauge(16G iirc) Brown wire with the black male plastic connector housing(female terminal inside). It is the Accessory circuit, powered via key ON or ACC, but not START. The capacitor is to suppress AM noise in the Heater, Radio, Wiper circuits.

For your Ignition Switch lamp, 1963(& 1964) uses a unique lamp arrangement. It has a mount plate/lamp socket which attaches to the back of the cluster. It is part of the Main Harness.

This thread has some details. HERE

          Thanks Richard for that information.
Since I will be in the back of the cluster I would like to change out the ignition switch lamp. Do you happen to know the part number?

          Thanks again

Not off hand but should be in your Owners Manual, or in the AMA specs(gmheritagecenter.com).

Rich, Lamp is a #53 according to the AMA spec pdf. See page 70.

Thanks Richard for the lamp #. I will start looking on line.

Great manual to have in soft copy.
                    Thanks again
