Loosening or removal of items for judging

I have a question for those of you who are experts at judging Mechanical on C2s. My question concerns the loosening or removal of items for judging. In Section 1, Sub-section 22 of the Judging Reference Manual, it explicitly mentions some items the judges may ask the owner to loosen or remove:


"Items may include (but are not limited to) the air cleaner, road-draft tube, automatic transmission linkage-mounting bracket..."

I believe you can not see the block casting number without removing? I know it was that way on a 65 I had.

Bob,

A cell phone camera with or without flash can be very helpful in viewing some numbers and date codes during judging.

But my basic question remains. Has anyone, either as a judge or an owner, been involved with the loosening or removal of that AT linkage bracket during judging? And if so, for which year car?

Gary, I haven't judged every 63-64 that has come to a regional or National event, however I have never needed to ask an owner to remove that A/T linkage bracket.
