    1971 LT-1 (#16326) - Nostalgia pictures from original owner

    Hi Folks,

I tracked down my cars original owner. They bought it in "City Chevrolet" in North Carolina, May 28th 1971. He sent me two pictures of the car after it had it's first wash, and then some interesting news, a picture after a little fender bender on some ice before he sold it. As you can see there is not much trace of that damage on the car now, but it is all part of the provenance. I'm glad he got back to me, as I have very little documentation for the car. I'm thinking I might be able to track that down if I can find the owner in between me and the person I purchased it from.

    Hope others find this interesting.

Beautiful car! I wonder if the City Chevrolet from which your car was sold is the same City Chevrolet in Charlotte, NC that is now owned by Mr. Rick Hendrick and dba Rick Hendrick's City Chevrolet. One of his earliest dealership acquisitions in the late 70s, I believe.

Hey Paul, I just checked my Statement of Origin for the car, it has the same address as Rick's dealership, so I believe so.

Mike I wrote to the first and second owners of my 67 the first had no pictures but the second sent me a pile of pictures up to 1980 of him and the car. Bell bottoms to conservative.

FWIW, City Chevrolet is a pretty big deal here in NC. They are connected with CCNCRS and they are a sponsor for the Queen City Corvette Club's annual Corvette show. The show is held at Hendricks Motorsports complex in Concord. Last September, we had >550 Corvettes on site for this terrific event.

I believe it was Mr. Hendrick's first dealership as he began his corporate climb.

hey Don, that’s very good to know. I wonder do they help CCNCRS or QC corvette club with help in searching for paperwork for cars sold at their dealership? Do you know if I could reach out to someone about that?

That’s brilliant bill. Great to recover pictures like that, that would otherwise be lost.

                      Michael,

You should look into the three Historical document services the NCRS offers and consider writing an article for the Corvette Restorer magazine on this very nice Corvette!

Good luck as you search for more history on your car.
