Re: The Change
Shannon, I'm confident that you will do a great job. All organizations can benefit from new fresh eyes and progressive perspectives. Diversity and diverse thinking can break the chains of monotonous thinking. I'm personally not an advocate of exercising change just for the mere sake of change, but at times change and rebranding is necessary to compete and continue to meet organizational goals. Can the NCRS still improve, of course it can. There are many little things that can be done to improve dynamics. This organization has many talented people that if allowed to blossom, they can contribute in a very positive manner. Likewise, we should always honor our organizational elders and seek their wisdom and knowledge when warranted.
Having spent 30 years in law enforcement, I fully understand how some cultural norms get so deeply embedded that even when it's for the purpose of improving conditions and results, some folks will still resist change.
Thank you for reaching out to us (the members) and sharing your fundamental vision.Ed Nieves

Re: The Change
The "politics of the election"????? What a load of toro poo!!!! It wasn't "politics". It was an ambush.
Why of course you want to "redirect the focus" because it has been on your underhanded means of kicking Mike Ingham to the curb.
You should be ashamed of yourself, Ms. Urton.- Top

Before we "move on"...
Shannon, exactly why do YOU think you were voted into this position at this particular time? This did not happen by chance, nor do I believe it was done as affirmative action. This was intentionally orchestrated for a reason. What was it?
Your best chance of making a good impression on members like me (who don't know you at all) is to be open. There will be plenty of time to "redirect the focus from the politics of the election" after an explanation of the "politics of the election".

Brian,
A notice was sent this morning to the Chapters and their respected Chapter officers' to initiate the communication of this change. I am currently working to obtain access to our Constant Contact forum for the ability to inform all of the NCRS membership.

Re: Before we "move on"...
Shannon- you answered the part about why you are motivated to lead this club, but did not answer why now, rather than when Mike’s current term was to end? And why Mike was not told in advance of your intention to be nominated at this meeting. Why?Jerry,
For my ability to continue to bring my passionate and youthful exuberance while focusing on the need for the NCRS to dramatically improve on its’ marketing, social media, branding, service excellence and advancement of technology to allow this group the opportunity for the growth potential that is essential for the longevity of our club.

I am the NW Chapter Chair and have not seen anything yet of what you mentioned above.
How was this sent?

Re: Before we "move on"...
Don,
To my surprise, membership seemed unaware of the fact that Mike eventually intended to step down from his Presidency. I will ask him to speak to his timeline and plan of succession as that is not my place. I can tell you unequivocally, that every single current member on this board of directors (and others beyond) were aware of my interest in the Presidency position with discussions dating over a year ago. Mike and I had discussions to this fact as well. No other current board members had any continued express interest in the position of the Presidency.
Things changed in the week before the Board Meeting in Florida held January 24, 2022. All Board of Directors received our agendas on February 15, 2022. Many of us were surprised that we would be holding our annual Board meeting and elections at that time. Many of us were expecting to have our regular annual meeting in March. Historically, Pre-COVID we would gather in Indianapolis to conduct this multiple day event. During COVID we have done so remotely via Zoom. This Zoom platform would have allowed us to expand the meeting beyond what we have had in the past. I personally felt that having this meeting in January did not allow the Board of Directors adequate time to conduct the business at hand and I openly expressed those concerns. I also believed the meetings lack of announcement in advance robbed the membership of their participation. That was the single major contributor for my willingness to accept the nomination that morning. There are things that I think that we can do better as I have delineated in additional responses. That is my answer to my why now.

Re: Before we "move on"...
Thank you for that. All that's missing is the notice to all members of the Board in advance that you intended to stand for election at that meeting.
I know Mike would have appreciated the courtesy of such notice. I believe you would have if the situation was reversed.- Top

Re: Before we "move on"...
Interesting, so you asked John to place your name in nomination and all the other board members were also aware that would happen? Did any of them discuss anything between themselves and/or with Mike beforehand?Big Tanks In the High Mountains of New Mexico- Top

Re: Before we "move on"...
Dan,
I am checking in to this as it appears that not all the members on the Foundation Board received the notice sent by the Mass Mail program that is currently our only organization option in a program that is a bit dated and incomplete. I can confirm that many Chapter Chairman did receive the message as I have had responses directly from them.
