    Clutch Pedal Rebuild

I pulled the clutch and brake assembly today for a rebuild. The clutch pedal shaft looks very decent however, there is a few thousandths play when I grasp the shaft to see how loose it is. I don't know if any play or looseness is acceptable. I know it's hard to tell from the attached picture but I'm thinking of welding it to take care of the play. Is this a good plan or should the pedal be replaced. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

A couple thousands of play doesn't sound like much. Could you really feel it when you pressed in the clutch? I would leave it alone.

I agree with John. Keep your Corvette as original as you can. I believe the pivot post is "swedged" into the pedal arm. You may be able to swedge it a bit more to tighten it up. You may need to custom make a tool so that you don't deform to slot.

Thanks for the reply, John and Terry. I will reuse the clutch pedal but I'm thinking of having a bead of weld applied to make sure it never comes loose.

Per a achieves post, today I ordered the pin that fits fits on the clutch bracket that holds the clutch push rod. I ordered from McMaster-Carr. I had to order a pack of 25 ($8.25) so i will have extra if anybody needs one I'll be happy to share. Installation of the pin looks pretty straight forward.
