What is the correct finish for the upper front original Delco shock absorber washer for a 1966 corvette? (February 22 build date) The JG notes that it is a light grey color - ? what does that imply. I am guessing a bare metal washer with some type of protective chemical coating but since I am going to be doing these it seems they should be done correctly. Anyone have knowledge or advice on treatment for this large, thick concave washer? (Guess that the nut is zinc or cad plated?) Thanks in advance!

John,
I think you want GM 3790342, which is GM-discontinued. Joe Lucia posted this info previously.

Re: correct finish for UPPER FRONT SHOCK WASHER?
I once bought a dozen of these from Chevrolet for a friend. ALL had a different shade of finish that ranged from light gray to almost black. What was the finish of the factory installed piece on the cars 50+/- years ago?? Good Luck!!Terry- Top

All-------
So, how come a 3790342 part number on a part that was first used on Corvettes for 1965. That part number dates to way before 1965. Well, there was another application for this retainer. That application was 1962+ Chevy II.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
