I have a 1969 L46 and i want to put an original accelerator cable on. Is this a hard job to do ? Page J210 of assembly manual describes use of special tool. Are you able to take entire pedal assembly out of car and connect cable?

Re: accelerator cable replacement
Thank you and yes i found out how much this old body can bend. I got old one out and installed supposed original cable ,having a hard time getting full throttle, gas pedal bottoms out just before full throttle is achieved. My pedal assembly is not the one shown in assembly manual, i understand there are two designs, i have an August build and do not know which one should be there .- Top

Re: accelerator cable replacement
You mentioned an August build date. The judging guide shows 69's were built in August 68 and August 69. Possibly there was a change made in/by August 69. Mine is a 68 which was built in August 68. Possibly the set-up is the same for both of our cars.
I did not need any special tools for this area during the restoration process of the 68. I would certainly agree with removing the seat. As you probably know, the cable goes through the firewall from the inside of the car. Fortunately, I did the work on mine while the steering column and the seat were out. Good luck.- Top
